Reflections for Officer Rexford Napoleon "Rex" Deaver

He was left-handed. He shot from behind a pole. Being left-handed his heart was exposed when gunfire was returned.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 97th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

The words "HERO" and "VALOR" were invented because of people like Ofc. Deaver. It takes something very special to go up against a madman with a shotgun who is shooting everybody he can. Ofc. Deaver realized it was his job to make our citizens safe. He put himself between a madman and the community. Ofc. Deaver, you left us many years ago but I know you are with me every night I hit the streets of Brunswick! I pray I will be able to show the same courage if I ever find myself in a similar situation ! You are a HERO to us at the Brunswick Police Dept. We Will Not Forget You Brother !
