I would like to thank everyone involved in the memorial service for my great grandfather. Especially Kim Weigand, her husband and the other member of COPS PA. Chief Sourbier and the Waynesboro Police Department. The representation of the other departments was impressive. When I met with them in June 2013 I had no idea the magnitude of their efforts to keep his memory alive. Thank you.

I, too, am a great grandson of Officer William Daywalt. His first son Charles is my Grandfather. I had been wanting to do something special for this February but I think the memorial service is a fantastic idea. I am currently working in Afghanistan which will make it unlikely that I can attend the service. I'm very happy and overwhelmed that his sacrifice is still being honored. Thank You to all that observes the memory his service. Steve Blaschak, son of Estella, Grandson of Charles and Great Grandson of William

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 98th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. . My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered. I am sure you are proud that your family continued your legacy of serving and protecting.

Rest In Peace

I am the son of Betty Jane, daughter of Clarance and Irene Daywalt. As a small child my Mother would tell me stories of a hero,a police officer who had given his life in the line of duty. From what I have learned of how he had lived his life he had set the bar quite high and should be viewed as an example for all men.

Out of curiosity, I googled the name Daywalt and found the info about my g.father.
My dad followed in his dad's footsteps and became a policeman of 42 years.
I am deeply touched to see my g.fathers picture and the short account of his untimely demise (by two outlaws).
