Reflections for Sheriff Walter A. Davis

Rest in peace always knowing that no passage of time will ever erase your service and sacrifice.

Detective Cpl/3 Steven Rizzo
Delaware State Police (Retired)

Sheriff Walter A. Davis was my great-grandfather who of course I never met because he was killed in the line of duty when my grand-mother was 8 years old. To add to my grandmother's tragic childhood, her mother passed away only 6 months before her father. She lived her life with a lot of pain, anger and sadness due to becoming an orphan at such a young age. These emotions in turn were passed on unknowingly to my mother. I share those emotions with all of the families of these officers who are unfortunately listed alongside my great-grandfather.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 97th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
