Hi Uncle Frank, can't believe it has been almost 38 years. I still remember the stills you got me and you showing me how to use them in the living room. The ride in the police car where we could have the lights and siren on. The motorcycle ride around the yard , and how you made us kids laugh . I remember your smile and all of us kids at your house running in and out. You were a wonderful Uncle and I still miss you alot. I am thankful for Tom getting in touch with us and sharing stories and pictures. You are alway in my heart.
Love you, Jenn

Frank I'm back again. All these years 38 of them and I still think about the days we went fishing together and went back and forth to school together. also good news, after all these years I found your family. You would be so proud of them. What a beautiful family !! They are doing well. I shared some stories photos and your handwriting which they had never seen. Every time I go back to Florham Park I reflect on the old days. I hoped in some way, I helped you and your family by connecting with them. Again you will never be forgotten. Frank, My old friend I found your family something that I felt compelled to do It has been 38 years since you have been gone but I never forgot you. I want you to know that you have a beautiful family and they are doing well. I've sent them pictures of you when we were in high school and your hand writing both of which they have never seen and shared some short stories of us fishing going to and from school I can see a lot of you in all of your children. They all seem to be doing well. The world lost a special person. If only more people knew you they would agree. So again !!! I just wanted you to know that you will never be forgotten. You old pal from so long ago.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the thirty-fifth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for the solace of all those who love and miss you for I know both their pain and pride are forever.

The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

It has been many years, my brother and his family and i were getting in our car and the car was hit by a guy who took off and was soon caught. we were called to the p d to identify the car. This handsome, sweet detective Daily interviewed us. weeks later i heard of his passing. it was heartbreaking. but here again, now 2007, he's not forgotten, i thought of him many times. God bless his family, you raised a fine son, know that we don't forget either. : D Dawn Nichols, gainesville, florida.
