Reflections for Police Officer Milton G. Curtis

Officer Curtis' son Keith was my boss many years ago at Armored Transport. Keith was a real great guy to work for and always gave you a square deal. To my knowledge he never mentioned his father. Keith was a quiet pleasant man, his father officer Curtis would have been very proud of his son.

It was 62 years ago today that you were ambushed while doing your duty. I was an eight year old at the time, living in this small town. I always remembered the incident and followed it closely, as did my younger brother. I got a call one day from my brother advising me that the "cop killers" were to be on "Cold Case Files". I was glad that the perpetrator was finally going to be punished. It wasn't right that he got to spend his entire life free only to spend his declining years being supported by the taxpayers.

Rest In Peace Brother in Blue. You are honored and remembered on the 61st anniversary of your EOW. May the scum that took your and your partner's life rot and suffer.

If the man who killed you had any REAL remorse, he would have turned himself decades ago. The death penalty was suspended at the time in 1972, so he has no excuse not to turn himself in

I've seen this case on Forensic Files and have read about it online. I pray for the families of Officers Phillips and Curtis. Gerald Fit Mason is a perfect example of how someone can trivialize such a horrendous crime and spend 45 years of their life as if nothing ever happened. He, obviously, has no conscience and was remorseful only because he was caught and for no other reason. I'm in total agreement with his captors who say he will never be released from prison. He enjoyed his family for over 40 years. His victim's families, their wives and children, never did.

My God bless your sole R.I.P. I am not a police officer but I hate when a officer gets killed in the line of duty and was watching a story on Murder Book TV show about this it is a sad way and hoping in 2017 the killer still stays in jail. I am from Australia

I've seen your story several times growing up. I was an Explorer in the same general vicinity of El Segundo at the time your murderer was caught and I was elated to hear he had finally been brought to justice. Your story has always been in the back of my mind when working graveyards in LA County. I just saw your story again on ID Discovery tonight. You will never be forgotten!
