Deputy Aaron Creel is my Dad. 52 years ago he was killed while protecting the lives of his fellow Jackson County citizens. Our family still mourns his death. Grandchildren and great grandchildren never experienced the excitement and pride he felt for for them. We also mourn the disrespect that is currently being directed to all those who protect us.

My family The Etheridges, lived down the street from Creel home. Mother and Father have always told me of the event of that day, I had just been born in Jan !963 my brother Bill was 6 they moved to run the theater in Marianna. Mrs Creel was very good friend to mom when i was born. Mr Creel was playing with us the day before, he would toss us in the air we all would laugh. they had made plans to go on a pick nick the next day with the Creels, the next morning mother looked out down the street the police cars was parked at creel house that was not the norm she got Dad up he found out the bad news,

This July 4 I will stop and think about the Creel Family 50 years ago
