Sheriff Coursen,
On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Armed Forces during WW II in the Philippines fighting the Japanese and especially when you were a Prisoner of War-God knows what you had to endure. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

What a terrible thing to survive the Bataan Death March and a prison camp just to be killed in an automobile accident! I hope his family and friends keep him in mind when they think of the word hero.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 43rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered. I also thank you for your service to your country as a WWII veteran. To have survived the Bataan Death March and three years as a prisoner of war is also a testament to your valor and bravery.

Rest In Peace.
