I visited your grave yesterday and the grave site looks more distinguishable with the American flag and the Officer Down flag in black and light blue. The department is placing these on all graves of fallen police officers. Rest in peace Officer Cook and l will say prayers for your family. I read something I wrote for you and cried and I am glad and grateful I was able to get the cemetery to replace the emblem back on your grave. I want to call Mrs. Wilkerson your niece, and hopefully I can meet her.

Officer Cook,

You and my father worked together in Central. He was one of the units that was originally dispatched to the call. His squad got it just as they were sitting down to roll call. Unfortunately by the time he arrived on scene, you had already been killed and the other officers wounded. He still to this day has difficulty speaking about it. He misses you and wishes things could of gone differently on that day. Best regards to your family, may they be at peace. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. You will not be forgotten.

Son of retired Metro-Dade Police Officer.

I meant to say this is how much I have thought of you Officer Cook, these last thirty-two years.Today is thirty-one years since my dad passed away. I wish even more that I can have both of you back to lean on for support. Officer Cook, you and my dad Owen who was a policeman in New York City should rest in peace. The wicked run to do evil, and the righteous pursue good as both of you displayed during your lives.I hope you can forgive me for not keeping in touch with you mom Julia these last thirty-two years. My mom Bernice she should rest in peace, would have loved being a friend to your mom and inviting her for a Friday night Sabbath dinner each week at our home.

Officer Cook you are probably having great conversations in heaven with my dad who was a police officer as you were. Yesterday my dad Owen would have celebrated his 105th birthday. He and you are helping patrol god's heavenly Gates along with those officers who have passed before you. I miss you as much as my da. Rest in peace Officer Cook.

A righteous man though he passes before his time, shall be at rest, for an honored old man does not depend upon length of time, nor is one measured by the number of one's years. For understanding is gray hair for man and a boundless life is old age. being perfected in a little while he fulfilled long years, for his soul pleased the L-rd. Wisdom of Solomon Rest in peace Officer Cook, as you were way mature and wiser than your years.

Dear Mrs. Tidwell, Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Wilkerson:
I just wanted to let you know that I wrote the letter to the cemetery to have them replace the replica of your brother Billy's badge. Officer Cook you deserve to have your honor and dignity restored and I visited your grave this afternoon. True instruction was on his lips and he did not give voice to unrighteousness. he walked with the Lord in peace uprightly, and he turned many away from iniquity. Kings 2:6 Rest in peace Officer Cook. I'm hopeful your family is grateful for what I did. I'll keep you Mrs.Cook and your family in our prayers this Passover and Easter holiday season. Wishing you and yours all the best.

I am visiting south Florida just for the weekend for my daughter's birthday. I went to Billy's gravesite and was amazed at finding the police emblem back down on his gravesite. Thank you all that was involved in replacing this badge and giving my brother the honor he so deserves. I speak for his family when I say, God bless you all.
All gave some, some gave all.

This truly is sad. First someone removed the replica of your badge from your grave and now someone has removed some of the reflections left for you. They were from Chief Bowlin and Captain Jacobs who attended high school and police academy with you. Rest in peace Officer Cook.

To The Cook Family:
I look forward to hopefully seeing you at this year's police memorial. I will never forget your heroics Officer Cook. Rest in peace. Even though I am a rabbi, I still find it hard to accept your tragic loss and I have officiated at other services. When you try to speak with family members it can be very emotional even for me.Crying is not unusual for me as I wear my emotions on my sleeve.

The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He has me lie down in green pastures. He leads me besides still waters. He guides me on paths of righteousness. He revives my soul for the sake of His glory. Though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no harm, for you are with me. Your staff and your rod do comfort me. You set a table in sight of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil;my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall abide in the House of the Lord forever. Psalm 23 This is the life that you led Officer Cook as a true hero Rest in peace Officer Cook.

To The Family of Officer Cook:
I was driving in North Miami today and was told by a former officer who formerly was police chief of North Bay Village that back in your day, there were no side panels for police. Justin your nephew told me when I met him in September that because of you Officer Cook, police now have the side panels along with the vests. I think of you as much as I think of my dad and wished we could have met. I consider you my friend and neighbor even though our families didn't know each other. Rest in peace Officer Cook
