Crime, violence, evil and just plain calamity stirrs up the pots of something sinister. You served and protected Dade County, Officer Cook, with every ounce of a heroic heart, soul and honor so decent and you desirable. Yet, today we the ordinary citizens still must contend with everything that rattles the homes and castles where sense of diredction, purpose and serenity should be normal. Dignity, integrity and true character, commitment and convictions that looked you squarely in the eyes everyday. All of this has been terribly absent all these decades later because of one very violent man taking your young life and robbing you of finishing out your career and retiring the way things should be. A happy marriage ending before its time, your family missing you at their happy occasions and of course your mother Julia, outliving you by almost forty years. The work she performed at Sabal Palm Elementary school here in North Miami Beach, Florida rejuvenated her and kept her going through your dad, Charles and your senseless death. Your comrades and family have remembered and solemnly saluted a most humble and blessing man, provocative, caring, compassionate and loyal whose name and legacy stands for hero, honoring every resting officer. Officer Cook, at the young age of twenty-five you made that ultimate sacrifice where vigilance and diligence met each other at the trails and paths of faithfulness, resiliency and devotion. A dedicated public servant who stood for justice doing properly and equitably. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend, angel and hero. One day your loved ones will meet and greet you in heaven where Our Lord watches over His flock of valiant angels.
