Attended a University of Md. class with Mickey the night before EOW. Spent some social time after class. Talked about anything and everything. Worked Wheaton-Glenmont Station together after attending the same rookie class. Good man , Beautiful wife and Baby. It will be 50 years soon and I still think of Mickey

I was a 22 year old police officer when Officer William ‘Mickey’ Conboy was murdered. Being from an adjacent police department I attended his police funeral. At the funeral I recall his wife and 2 year old daughter. I talked with a number of his co-workers who all stated what a good person and cop he was. A few years later I met Mickey’s brother. When he found out I was a cop, he mentioned he lost a brother from the Montgomery County (MD) Police Department. I then named Mickey he was so touched that his brother was remembered. What I’d like to say is all of our lost brothers and sisters, from law enforcement, should be remembered for the lives they gave serving others. ALWAYS!

I was a teen living in Silver Spring at the time and remember hearing this awful news. Although we never met that I know of, it's obvious that you were a good man and that your family loves you dearly. Thank you for working so hard to protect our community and our country. I'm so sorry for what it cost to you and your family members, and I'll keep doing what I can to support and encourage your brothers and sisters in blue, and their families. Rest easy.

Went to young Conboy's viewing at the funeral home. Very sad occasion. Had the pleasure of guarding one of his killlers at the W-G Station following the shooting in Silver Spring, Md. Very difficult to watch the killer without feeling hatred and wanting to exact street justice.

I retired in April 2015 after 41 years on the job. 20 years in Patrol and 21 Years as a Detective. My grandfather Patrick Conboy was born in PA in 1870 and I know William and I were related. I came on the job on 4/16/74 a few short months after William was murdered. Rest in peace brother. I hopefully will be able to get to MD. and visit William's place of honor. My sympathy to his family.

Had a beer with Mickey the night before after a class at U of M. Went Rookie School together and on the same shift before the undercover assignment. 45 years later, I still think of him, his beautiful wife and child. His loss was the reason that my wife and I and child left the force. Never Forget. MWA

Michelle,

I am your second cousin Nancy. You came to our house in Freehold, NJ when you were quite young. I remember how devastated my mom, Lillian, was when your dad passed. He was her favorite. I have no idea if your grandmother, Eleanor, is still with us, but I would love to get in touch with her if possible. Please email me if you get this message. I am so happy to hear that you are well and have had a good life.

Warmly,
Nancy Stafford
