Reflections for Patrolman Michael A. Browning

I think about you all time Mike as I was there, arriving late. I later served at your funeral Mike, never forgetting your mom stroking your hair. We had just met maybe three weeks prior on a stop, and I knew immediately what a great kid you were and a good cop you would become. To friends and family he truly is remembered.

I will always remember Mike, bright young kid who worked in the town next to mine. I was on duty that night and will never forget Don Reever’s call for help. ( Mikes partner that night on the call) Of course we went and the pain and hurt they were all feeling. We were all on the same frequency and we’re all friends. It will be a day I will never forget. RIP Mike

I will never forget the morning of Michael’s interment. When the bagpiper walked in from the trees playing Amazing Grace there wasn’t a dry eye there.

Rest well Michael - your brothers will never forget you.

It’s hard to believe you’ve been gone for 27 years. It seems like just yesterday we were cadets and looking forward to our careers in law enforcement.

You were a great man and will always be a hero.

I knew Mike only as an acquaintance when he would drop off suspects at the county jail. But my good friend Tom knew him as a brother. After knowing Tom for all the years I work with him, when Mike would come up in a conversation tears will flow. We lost a fellow brother on that day. But he will always be remembered. As it says on the National Law Enforcement Memorial “HEROES LIVE FOREVER”
Rest in Peace.

Uncle Mike I was only five months old when you were killed but I've read the articles about that night and dad tells me stories about you and him growing up. I hope to follow in your footsteps and serve Kendall County as a deputy. I love you and we all miss you.

Eternal rest grant unto him oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them may he rest in peace. Amen.

I hope your family has a sense of peace over the fact that you were so loved and such a hero and that you have touched so many lives since this tragic night.

As a dispatcher I could not imagine the horror that everyone felt that night, the pain, the sadness. I truly hope I never have to go through any of that in my career.

Rest in peace officer everyone misses you and has the watch for you.
