Reflections for Reserve Officer Lester H. Cole

Thinking of my Dad today ....
Pleasant thoughts of camping, hugs after work as he was still dressed in his uniform. Model trains in the garage and learning how to ride my bike on Suzanne Court in San Jose.
Mom never remarried and 94 this year. She always sighs when I mention him and says he was a wonderful man ❤️
Always in my heart
Loving you a little more today
Your daughter Elizabeth

Today we honored the memory of Lester Cole with a gathering at his gravesite. We talked about his service to the department and in attendance was several retired officers that worked with him. A beautiful spray of flowers was left at his gravesite. Rest in peace.

Dad, I've missed You. Everything I have become, was to make You proud. Growing up going fishing and camping is what I remember we used to do as a family. I loved our Rambler wagon. I loved building model trains and ships and planes with You. I have always cherished my memories of You. I'm so glad Mom and Liz could make this ceremony. My work would not allow me to attend. My heartfelt appreciation to Dennis for contacting me to let me know you were being recognized. I am so proud of You. I Love You.

Lester was a very laid back kind of guy. Like most reserve officers, he would work his regular job 8-10 hours, then get into his uniform (we had to buy our own uniforms those days), and come and work into the night. We did not have two-person patrol cars, so reserves used to be immediate cover for regular officers. He was begining to start a flare pattern, and was hit by a motorist who could not see him in the darkness. Lester was bending over at the time. Lester, like myself, had a twin brother. He was a gentle, nice man
