Still a hard and dangerous area! any officer ,federal ,state or county working the Big Bend is always in danger. Worked from 1993 until 2012 ,sometimes at lajitas, ,but mostly at Presidio up river from Lajitas. Brave men to go there then when there were ten bad men to every good lawman and poor communications. That area will always be hard on good lawmen! Go there ready.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 106th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. You will always be remembered and revered.
