Reflections for Officer Nicholas Paul Cecchetti

Rest in peace knowing that your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten by your law enforcement brethren.

I was a Deputy District Attorney in the San Joaquin County DA's Office while Nick was a police officer and his father was Chief of the Stockton Police Department. I remember Nick like it was yesterday. He was an intelligent and enthusiastic officer, with a great smile and an even greater laugh. He was an officer who never complained about any assignment and he was always available when his testimony was needed in court. I was at the office the day Nick was shot and killed. The news of his death was a shock to the entire DA's Office. I still honor his service to his community. I salute you, Nick.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the thirty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace

What pain this must have caused all your family, but your father had to have been devastated.
