Reflections for Officer John Arthur Carrillo

JOHN,

IT WAS ALMOST 33 YEARS AGO WE RODE TOGETHER. IT SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY. YOU ARE THE EPITOME OF A POLICE OFFICER; AS WELL AS A COPS COP.

I STOP AND SEE YOUR MOM AND DAD WHENEVER I AM IN ALBUQUERQUE. THE LAST TIME WAS IN 2010; NO ONE WAS HOME.

THE EVENING RIDE ALONG WITH YOU, WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED. IT WAS TRULY AN HONOR TO HAVE MET YOU AND SHARED A FEW HOURS OF PATROL TOGETHER. THANK YOU!

REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER IN BLUE.

LIEUT. RAY BATIATO (RET)
MILLBURN, NJ POLICE DEPARTMENT

Sorry it has taken so long to get back on here. On Feb. 22nd went down and put one rose at your grave, it was nice to see someone had left fresh flowers (probably your family, they are so nice). Had the radio station play Dance With Me by Orleans (our song). Wish you were here to dance with, miss you and still love you.

Love always and forever, (one red rose)

Just a quick note to say I haven't forgotten my good friend John. We played basketball together, we cleaned up late at night at pizza hut, and just hung out and had fun. Your old friend, Diego

All though I did not have the honor to meet Officer John Carrillo. I have been told he was a great man who was kind & caring. He was there for a all his frinds & was a genteel genuine man. This is the memories I have been told by a man who will always remember Officer Carrillo with the love of a brother who was with him at Cadet Training & was later a fellow officer. He is greatly missed & will not ever be forgotten.

Yesterday I attended the memorial for John Carrillo at the Carrillo APD substation. Although I did not know Officer Carrillo, I am very sorry for his family's loss, and for the city's loss of a valient man who put his life on the line to protect all of us Albuquerque citizens. I regret all the negative actions/comments of certain citizens who just do not get it that our police force are here to take care of us, protect us from crime and the unstable actions of those who turn to violence as a means of solving their problems. Thank you, APD for all you do for us, and thank you, Carrillo Family, for raising a son who gave his life while trying to protect us citizens. You have much to be proud of. I am only sorry you had to lose such a wonderful son. And I well know, although 25 years has passed, the pain of loss is always present. My heart goes out to you.

Dearest John,

Backin 1973, at the state fair, I met and fell in love (at first sight) with the cutest and most handsome young man (you)! All thou we only dated for two and a half years I feel you were and are my soul mate. Your beautiful smile would light up the world and everyone in it. You were a great cop and a great human being, you are truly missed and still loved.

Love always and forever (one red rose)

It has been over ten years since I saw your name at the Peace Officer Memorial. We shared the same name, the same time on as peace officers at the time of your EOW. You were taken on my birthday in 1987. I feel that in some way we may be connected. I've recently retired after thirty years and now work at a police academy in Ca. I often share your story with the cadets. My desire is to keep them sharp and always aware of the danger. Please know that your sacrifice will not be forgotten . . . young officers across our state will continue to learn from you !

I graduated out of the academy with your brother. He spoke well of you and your decision to come to the department. I remember how much George was hurting after you were shot and killed.
My best to your family for this unthinkable hardship.
God bless all of you!
