My condolences to Officer Cano's family and friends.

I am wondering if this was a result of exposure to fentanyl in the drugs that were found on the suspect that he was arresting. If so, my plea is with all law enforcement to take precautions to prevent exposure to any unknown drugs that may be encountered.

My agency actually stopped using drug field testing kits because of the potential exposure to fentanyl years ago. If your agency still performs field testing of drugs, please advise and recommend discontinuing the use of field testing of unknown drugs by officers.
