Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Jaime Junior Roman

My husband, Jaime Roman and I met on November 4, 2017, at the Philadelphia Police Academy, not knowing that day would change our lives forever. What started as two people chasing their dreams turned into something so much more. A love that was real, strong, and filled with laughter.

After a little over a year of dating, Jaime, in his true spontaneous way, asked me to marry him on a random snowy day, February 27, 2019. We walked into city hall and said “I do” smiling from ear to ear. No grand plans, no over-the-top gestures just us, in the moment, exactly how we always were.

Then came the greatest blessing of all, our beautiful baby boy Jaime Jr his “mini me”, born on March 25, 2020. With him, our love grew even stronger, and life felt complete. Jaime was everything you could ask for in a husband and father—funny, hardworking, and full of ambition. He always had new ideas, new business ventures, and a way of making even the smallest moments special. He lived for his family, for making memories, and for being the best father he could be.

My husband had a passion for life and a tender heart for others. Anyone who knew Jaime knows he had a direct, sarcastic, yet sweet nature. He loved helping others in any way possible. He loved country music, long drives, and getting lost in his PlayStation games. He started most of his mornings with a run, clearing his mind and setting the tone for the day. But more than anything, he loved policing. It wasn’t just a job for him, it was a calling. He could talk about it for hours, sharing stories, experiences, and his deep respect for the work he did and the community he served.

It was a nightmare that came true on June 22, 2024. I’ll never forget receiving that phone call followed by a horrific police car ride to the hospital. The radio and sirens still echo in my head. Life became a blur. I go through the motions each and every day.

Though life had other plans, my husband’s love and spirit will never fade. His laughter still echoes in our hearts, and his love remains in every moment we shared. He was my partner, my best friend, and the love of my life.

Jaime, I love you. I miss you. Thank you for loving us and taking care of us even now from the heavens above. I know you hold my hand every step of the way. I will forever mourn you and the beautiful life we shared together. Your story will never end. It lives in our son, in the memories we made, and in the love that will always be yours. When they see us, they’ll see you. I love you baby.
