Trooper Popp, a police officer should be remembered not by how he died but by how he lived! A brave man has left to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your 4 years of law enforcement service, to your family, and to the Michigan State Police. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!

Heavenly Father, we remember our brother, Trooper Joel Popp, of the Michigan State Police, who is now in Your eternal presence. We thank You for giving him to us to know and to love as a comrade and friend on this our earthly pilgrimage. In Your boundless compassion console his family, friends, and the Michigan State Police in their time of sorrow. Give them faith to see that death is the gate of eternal life so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on earth until by Your call we are reunited with those who in saving faith have gone before us. In Christ Jesus' mighty and holy name, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.
