Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Chad Swanson

Heavenly Father, You are Compassionate and Merciful. None of America’s Peace Officers leave home without the fear of failing to return at the end of their watch. It is a fear that is lived daily. Unfortunately, the worst does sometimes come to pass, and lives are left shattered. Lord God, bless and keep the hearts and souls of those who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. Wipe away the tears from their eyes. Soothe their pain and bind up their emotional wounds through the wounds of Your beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. In His name, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.

Scripture Supporting the Law Enforcement Mission:

“So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:2-5 TLB]

Officer Swanson,

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. You were a courageous man, putting your life on the line to save others. Your loss will, no doubt, be felt by all those who knew you, and whose lives you've touched. Your wife, three sons and parents are in my prayers, as well as the rest of your family, friends, loved ones, and colleagues. Rest in peace.

Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13

Officer Swanson, a police officer should be remembered not by how he died but by how he lived! A brave man has left to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your law enforcement service, to your family, and to the Manhattan Beach Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!
