May God minister to the Family and Loved Ones of Dep. Clinkunbroomer! May his memory be cherished and his sacrifice, fulfilling his life’s calling, be an inspiration to those who ‘stand in the gap’, filling the role that has been vacated by such evil! May those responsible answer to justice, both in this life and the one to come.

This deputies age and time in service are indicative of a lifelong ideology of selfless service and the willingness to sacrifice his needs for the betterment of society. It is my hope that the perpetrator(s) of this heinous crime are swiftly caught and brought to justice so that they can spend the rest of their natural life in reflection, restricted to a 6’x9’ cell. Prayers to his family and the community, for this is a loss that will touch everyone who knew him.

I am proud to say Ryan was my friend. I worked with him at NCCF and my father worked with him a little bit at North facility and both of us knew him to be the nicest guy ever and a real hard worker. He was a truly great man and a great deputy. Turns out my mother even met him once when he took an accident report for her and she didn’t even know who he was at the time. She saw his picture and said yea, he was a really nice guy and very personable. I’d say that sounds about right. Clink always knew how to lighten the mood and but also make sure everything is being done right. I was devastated to hear the news about what happened to him. Rest easy brother, we’ll hold the line from here.

"A Part of America Died"

Somebody killed a deputy today,
and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
will be buried with him at his side.

The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
and spend many long, lonely nights.

The beat that he walked was a battle field too,
just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.

Yes, somebody killed a deputy today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
a cop put his life on the line.

Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
and he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call, of himself gave his all,
and a part of America died.

Sgt. Randy Keenan (retired)
City of Alameda, CA Police Dept.
