Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Aréanah M. Preston

Lord God of unfailing love, to those families in our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a law enforcement family member, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. In Christ Jesus, Your beloved Son, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.

As the first female officer to be felled in Chicago's police history, one hundred and seventy years after the first officer was killed, you will not be forgotten.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

An absolute travesty and crime against humanity by meaningless individuals who will no doubt be defended as the REAL victims.

Officer Preston, your career was never given a real chance. You no doubt were destined for great things and now, the City of Chicago, the Chicago PD, your family and friends are without you, and for what? NOTHING.

God Bless you, Sister and all those who will personally feel your loss, though, so long as your kept in their hearts and minds, you will never truly be gone from them. Rest in Peace.

Dear Sister,
You are a hero and I can see how proud your Mom is of you. You fought with fierce determination, and while I didn't know you personally, I know your heart was right and full of the greatness of a strong woman, scholar and police officer. To your Mom, I can't image the immense loss you feel right now. Your daughter shinned your light and we won't let that light ever be extinguished.

Peace and prayers to you, your family, friends and Police Partners.
Chicago PD, I'm saddened for your police family and the community Officer Preston serviced.
