The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

I was struck and saddened to hear one of my beloved university's police officers had been murdered. Temple's police are fully integrated into the city police and all attend The Philadelphia Police Academy, even though the university has its very own certified police academy; that's how professional it is now, and with this came increasing duties and responsibilities and new dangers that take them off campus for routine citywide radio calls that are often not related to students. Temple police officers are thus tasked to be both university police officers and city police officers. Philadelphians owe their deepest, heartfelt gratitude to each of these Temple University Police Officers who take so many of these calls, exactly as did Officer Fitzgerald. Temple's police officers will be hurting from this needless loss, and it would mean so much if you'd give each one you see a kind word.
