Lord God of unfailing love, to those families in our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a law enforcement family member, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. In Christ Jesus, Your beloved Son, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.

"Somebody killed a policeman today, and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court, with counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids and spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too, just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today, it happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street, and he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all, and a part of America died."

Hi, I am the mother of Christopher Fitzgerald, I want to ensure you have the correct information. Our son Christopher graduated the Philadelphia police academy in June of 2018 and began working for the Philadelphia Housing Authority prior to the Sheriff’s office. He served just under 5 years as a police officer and had been in LE since he was 20 years working as a jailer for Sugar Land PD TX and as a Lehigh County PA Corrections Officer. Not only is my Husband, his father a Police Chief so am I (his mother Pauline). Both my husband and I are also retired from the Philadelphia PD. Being a police officer is our family business.

Thank you for your post. We are so proud of our son and his career.

Be Safe!
