Such a senseless tragedy that in a probable 45 mph zone and doing nothing wrong, these two heroes died after someone not obeying the law crashed into them. Naturally the offender survived. I'm just weary from the heartache that every death brings. My career was cut short at 23 years from an on the job injury and my first agency suffered the loss of two officers the years I served there. Too much blood is being shed of officers blood and some K9 officers. Praying for all that gave all, and for all active officers. Be safe.....

The news of this tragedy rocked the entire department, city, and fellow survivors. As a daughter of PO Thomas R Meyers, eow 1/14/98, KCPD I want to express how very sad I am that your family is now having to process this immeasurable loss of your Officers. I can't imagine losing both Jimmy and Champ and how you are coping. Please know you are not alone. Along with everyone you already knew you have a new family of survivors that are here and ready to be with you whenever and however you and the family needs. I have left my information with P. B. on the Care Team and am here when you are ready. Much love, many prayers, and strength being sent in this horrible time. May your memories surround you in comfort as you all process this tragedy.

With respect and prayers,

Tracy
