The Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation was and always has been a tremendous support to Law Enforcement survivors Families.
They have routinely checked on me and my family. Since 2018.
Deputy Peery was killed Sunday 8/7/22. I wanted to reach out to his family but sometimes it's best to stay back and let them be.
So much going on planning, ciphering e-mails, texts for scammers and threats. I was totally unaware of all of that during our loss. His family is enduring this now. So sad...
For us the CFHF, well They handled it all and so did the Pueblo PD, and PCSO, Colorado State Patrol. Monitored our every move and provided protection every day. they were never in our face, but we always knew they were there. I know at night the officers who patrolled our street and neighborhood were always there. I wanted to go out and tell them thank you for being with us and watching our home and be safe and say goodnight. they were with us every day due to the threats against me and my family. The eastside was never before this safe. LoL. AMR Ambulance was always on Standby in our general area if the need ever arose. Thanks to Mike Lening and his staff and the AMR Ambulance company.
The days preceding the memorial service, they took Eva, my granddaughters my daughter and their families to the Springs to go do girlie things and get clothes for the service and just to get away. Timelines and appointments a somewhat strict daily itinerary for my moves. One of the things was it was a blur. a lot of talking heads. There were cameras in my face nearly every day up until and even after the services. I wanted it to end. just go away. There were even strong words and anger among us as the pressure was ever-present. I was numb. I have told JoAnn and my daughters and my boys Law Enforcement family. I never had a time to grieve. To be alone.
There is so much I want to tell Deputy Peery's' family how to just be alone. On that day 8/7/2022 there were 3 lives lost and so many others affected. I don't know if anyone has reached out to the girls' family, who was killed and entered into heaven the same day and hour as our new Fallen Hero. They are victims and survivors also.
Today I received email from the CFHF just to see how we are. Just to check up on us. Hearing about a fallen hero near to us was a shock.
Once again without question CFHF, they were here. Yup, now once again we reluctantly accept a new member of the Fraternity and into "THE CLUB." Deputy Peery had friends and children and parents who are shocked and certainly overwhelmed of the loss.
I was asked to relay some of my thoughts and feelings over this. well, here they are. I hope this will be edited like some of my TV spots. I sometimes do not have a good language and sometimes my speech is tainted by my language.
Mr. Jim Gumm wrote a short story about how he was when he gained membership into a club WE never wanted to join. He is the Father of Heath Gumm who was along doing his job when he was shot and killed. He led the charge for Colorados fallen Heros of 2018. Kelly Firestone, wife of Micah Flick is our joined sister for that year.
From one grateful citizen and family to Deputy Andrew Peery
Rest in Peace Sir. You have done your Duty,
to Honor you is ours...
Total admiration for your brave service and sacrifice, and to your loved ones may Gods peace surround you and them forever.
Ed Moreno and family
I will share that story by Jim Gumm.

Deputy Peery, you touched so many lives with your big smile, your carefree selflessness and your honest approach to your mission-to help others and to be part of the team because you are "only 1 man"! You will be missed by all who knew you and they will stand the watch but will do it with heavy hearts. Thank you for your kindness, it won't be forgotten. These small gestures may not seem important at the time, but they carry a lifetime of memories for others who it means the world to. Thank you for your pledge to EPSO to protect and serve, may you rest in peace.

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.
