I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln

For 24 years as an motor instructor with Northwestern and ax 25 year Motor Retiree it hurts my heart to hear of one officer to go in the line of duty. In today’s world it may not matter to nay sayers, but to us who have walked the walk it hurts.
CJ you were a Motor Man, You lived like all motor officers. Our HONOR!!! Just like motor officers from Texas to New York, Baton Rouge to Florida. Be careful you know how I worry

To all that we have trained. Stay the course.
You are the LINE.

HOLD THE LINE!!!!

CJ you touched my heart!!!!!!

I met Sgt. Nelson when his son played baseball with my grandchild last year. He was a great father and husband.and lived only a few miles from us. It was only a few weeks ago when I spoke with him at a funeral of a former police chief of the EPD.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the staff of the Edmond Police Department. Over my 58-year police career, I’ve known and worked with many of the former officers of this great department in the OKC Metro area. I know this department is devastated by his passing.

CJ was a police officer who was dedicated to his family and his police career. This senseless tragedy should not have happened. May God be with the family during this time of sorrow. He will be greatly missed.
