R.I.P. Hero, on this anniversary of your EOW. I thank you for your service Sir. I pray you are resting in the arms of God. I also pray that God gives comforting Grace to your loved ones. I know for myself that the grieving process is never ending. I'm the son of a Fallen Officer (Arthur Williams Newark Police Dept. N.J. EOW 3-1-78) May God bless you and your family, and everyone who have found their way to ODMP. I also thank those who still protect, and serve today, and their loved ones.

I was around there at that time. On my way home from work from West Point GA. I remember seeing blue lights on 431 from Roanoke PD. I had either taken the route on Roanoke Rd. Or from Fredonia to Welch. I change it up from time to time. Just riding. Anytime I see PD activity I look up later to see what was happening. Then I find this out. God bless you Jmar. While I was on my way home from work. You were still on the clock. You did your best. For that. I am thankful.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

Rest In Peace, little brother. We are proud of you. Not everyone has the courage to try to make the world a better place. Not everyone has the selflessness to trade worldly success for an opportunity to serve others. Thanks for being that guy.

In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO!

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whose blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Sheriff Abel, our world is full of evil people, and yet, you dedicated your life to protecting others that they may be safe. Our Lord, who sees all and knows all, will reward you abundantly for your courage, dedication and selfless service. You are a true hero despite your short time of service and your young age. My heart breaks for the sorrow that your father and your fiancee are suffering. May God immerse you and your loved ones in His Divine Mercy. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.
