Reflections for Deputy Sheriff James Allan Lear

Deputy Sheriff Lear,
On today, the 1st anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

James my life with you was filled with laughter and confidence that you would always be by my side. Now I face a world without you and I am struggling . You said I was a super woman and that I was tough but that was only because I had you as backup. It has almost been a year now and I feel like I have been on a moving train I just can't get off of. Our kids miss you and the dogs miss you. I am so thankful to God that I had the time with you that I did. I praise God that I got to see you and hug you one last time. You were an amazing gift from God to me.

My beautiful son, you have been called to the army of God. May you serve Him proudly in Eternity as you have served Him, your family, County, and Country here on Earth. My heart is full of both pride and sadness. You are so loved and so missed. Philippians 2:3-4 best describes you, your heart, your life, and your smile, "3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others." Thank you for all you taught us. I wish you could have stayed longer.

Most merciful God, You hold each of us dear to Your heart. Hold all our nation’s law enforcement officers and their families, who are afflicted or affected by the COVID-19 Virus, in Your loving arms and tenderly draw them into Your life, together with all others who are living with the COVID-19 Virus. Assure them that they are not alone, and give them courage and faith for all that is to come. Strengthen those who care for them and treat them, and guide those who do research. Forgive those who have judged harshly, and enlighten those who live in prejudice or fear. Nourish those who have lost sight of You, and heal the spirits of those who are broken. We pray this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, who suffered and died, and then rose from the dead to lead us into new life, now and forever. In Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” [Psalm 23:4 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [and daughters] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4 ESV]
