The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

I am so sorry to learn of the grievous loss of Officer Fortner when he died in the line of duty from Covid. To the Fortner family, officers , and all who call Darryl beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I hope that you continue to receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Fortner gave to his community and the residents of Alabama for so many years and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 6, 2022

Most merciful God, You hold each of us dear to Your heart. Hold all our nation’s law enforcement officers and their families, who are afflicted or affected by the COVID-19 Virus, in Your loving arms and tenderly draw them into Your life, together with all others who are living with the COVID-19 Virus. Assure them that they are not alone, and give them courage and faith for all that is to come. Strengthen those who care for them and treat them, and guide those who do research. Forgive those who have judged harshly, and enlighten those who live in prejudice or fear. Nourish those who have lost sight of You, and heal the spirits of those who are broken. We pray this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, who suffered and died, and then rose from the dead to lead us into new life, now and forever. In Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” [Psalm 23:4 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [and daughters] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4 ESV]

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family, and the Vestavia Hills Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!

To the love of my life you will be sorely missed. I am devastated by the loss of not having you around, seeing and hearing your voice everyday makes it so hard. You have always taken such good care of me and our family. I know in heaven your are healed and that brings me some peace. But selfishly I still want you here with me.

To those that have written before and after this post I want to thank you all for being so kind and gracious. Also, I want to say THANK YOU for all that you do for the people of this country, and for taking the time to write something on my husbands page it means a lot to me and our family.
