I leave this additional reflection for Campus Safety Officer Jefferson. By all accounts, he and Officer Painter were friends as well as co-workers. Though non-sworn, CSO Jefferson was there with Officer Painter to assist him in any way he could. I should have mentioned him in my earlier reflection, but I feel this is more appropriate.

God Bless you CSO Jefferson and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln

Officer Painter, things like this are not supposed to happen on college campuses. Ask anyone, they're bastions of tranquility where the worst crime is underage drinking and panty raids. Sir, your murder is a travesty and a tragedy.

We mourn your passing, honor your sacrifice and thank you for your service, Brother.

God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace.

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

By Jon F. Hooper

This is extremely sad. I started my police career at a university campus and my dad was glad because it was "safer". Really? Believe me, it was not and this proves it.

Your now patrolling the streets of gold brother. Save me a cup of coffee when I get there.

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Bridgewater College Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!
