I watched the funeral for HERO Detective Jason Rivera yesterday, on tv.

To the family and colleagues: Know that I was only one of thousands, even more, that mourned with you from a distance. Although I didn’t know Jason, nor do I know the family, I THANK YOU for sharing that most somber day.

Jeffrey: You painted such a clear picture of who your little brother “Tata” was. I agree that his smile could light up ANY place. It’s evident that he fulfilled his true calling from GOD!

Dominique- You were COURAGEOUS yesterday! Your words MATTERED and will continue to make a difference (as I suspect you will too). I do believe that Jason’s spirit was guiding you yesterday. Please do not have any regrets about that last morning. I pray that you find a way to forgive yourself.

HERO Detective Jason Rivera: I THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice. You WILL NOT be forgotten!

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Officer Rivera, I have been feeling so sad thinking about what happened to you. You were so young, and so very brave. Your life meant a lot, to people who loved you and also to those that never met you. You had dreams, I’m so sorry that you didn’t live long enough to see them fulfilled. You had a wonderful smile and a heart of gold. Rest peacefully now, in the Kingdom of Heaven. You will see your loved ones again. God loves you.

Blue Point

What can I say
Each day I wear my badge
Step forward with a prayer
What makes me stay
Back and forth the hate
I'm blue for all
What makes me stay
I knew all my life what i wanted to be
Duty to people, law and me
Live the life, there is a cost
The hate, the lies to harm all
Which comes both ways
Back and forth the hate
What makes me stay

You..

Some people can’t understand the duties of a Police Officer choosing to protect others while risking their own safety, moving towards the line of fire while the public is running away, and sometimes making the ultimate sacrifice. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten! Rest In Peace, Brother.

"Somebody killed a policeman today,
And a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died."
