Boo, there simply are not words. When talking to Colten this afternoon, we had many laughs about how many Memes I would steal from you and also the ones I would send that you would share with him. This isn’t happening. You did not deserve this, you were the last person that deserved it. You were an amazing mother down here and I know that you and Austin have some catching up to do. There is an army of lucky people that are celebrating knowing you down here, your work is done, we have it from here. We all love you.

My dear friend Lena,
I am at a loss for words. I'm numb. I just spoke to you weeks ago. You were the happiest I've seen you in a long time. You were such a fighter. I thought you could pull through this, but God needed you more than we did. I have faith that you will look down to guide & protect us from above. I'll never forget the very first time we met when you first became a K9 Handler to do training. You forgot to close the access door from the K9 insert into the front of your patrol car & your K9 partner shredded your seats. We laughed for hours. I was fortunate to call you a friend. I'll never forget you. Fly high Lena. Rest in heaven.

Lena, I never knew you, but our borders met, and you assisted Cpl. Brooks on a a chase into Jackson County. I’ve heard wonderful things about the kind of person you are. I would like to tell our brothers and sisters to remember you as that, and to your family, I wish only that they remember the sacrifices you made, and that your name be remembered for all eternity and may the memories of you bring happiness and peace to those whom you love and those who love you.

Every time I see something like this over the course of my 35 years in law enforcement I tell myself "There but for the grace of God, go I". Rest in Peace sister, while the rest of us pick up where you left off.
