My heart breaks when I think about this all. I remember the day you walked in first day on the job and the last day we spoke and enjoyed a laugh. I find comfort in those times we shared. Gone but not forgotten living in our memories. Rest easy my brother.

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!

"Somebody killed a policeman today,
And a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died."

Our heartfelt condolences are extended to Deputy Juan Ruiz, family and friends over his unfortunate passing as a result of this precarious predicament and murder. Deputy Ruiz exposed his life everyday, working within confinement overseeing felonious inmates. Deputy Juan Ruiz dedicated and demonstrated his honor, integrity and character, especially his bravery. Deputy Ruiz epitomizes what a genuine role model and hero truly is. " I lie down and sleep; I wake again, for the Lord sustains me. I am not afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me round about".
Psalms 2: 5-6 May your soul rest in peace Deputy Juan Ruiz
