Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Edward Perez

You are not forgotten.

Eddy,
There are no words to express how much I miss seeing you and hearing your laugh. There is a sadness in my heart a piece of me thats missing. That piece is you. People say time heals all wounds and the feeling of loss will heal. I don’t believe that to be true. I miss you everyday and pray that you know how much we miss you and how lost we feel without you. I love you and hope to see you in my dreams. Until we meet again.
Love you,
N

Ed,

Sorry for the late reflection. Although you’re not with us in body, your memory lives strong in our hearts. Hard to believe that so many years have passed since that first day you and I sat together for lunch at the Miami Subs across the street from HQ. Now I am retired. Miss you.

Always your friend,

Jorge

The Moment that you Left Me by Doug Craven
The moment that you left me
My heart split in two
One side filled with memories
The other side died with you
I often lay awake at night
When the world is fast asleep
and take a walk down memory lane
With tears upon my cheek
Remembering you is easy
I do it everyday
But missing you is a heartache
That never goes away
I hold you tightly within my heart
And there you will remain
As my life goes on without you
But will never be the same.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

Officer Perez, for many years, you dedicated your life to protecting others that they may be safe. It took a small virus to take your life. Our Lord, who sees all and knows all, will reward you abundantly for your courage, dedication and selfless service. My heart breaks for the sorrow that your parents are experiencing over the loss of their son. It is against the law of nature that parents would outlive their child. May God immerse you and your loved ones in His Divine Mercy. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.
