Reflections for Special Agent Gregory Cleveland Holland

My Brother, you will be missed. Although we never meet in person you had a huge impact on my life. I was and still am inspired by your work ethic, the care you had for your co-workers, and your unfailing willingness to help. I will miss our weekly IM conversations. Until Valhalla warrior.

Greg will be missed and I will always appreciate his professionalism and pleasant demeanor each and every time we communicated. I will never forget how he assisted the VA Police family whenever he could. I will miss our conversations and I send condolences to his entire family, friends, VA Police family and a special prayer for his children and fiancé.

Greg, you were always there for the men and women of the VA Police. I knew, personally, that I could always call you for anything, and you'd be there to provide your guidance and advice. From the first time we met 10 years ago, I knew you were the consummate professional, and had the passion for the job, just as I have. One of the many reasons I considered us more than friends. As it has been said, what happens when we die? "I know the ones who love us will miss us." Brother, I will miss you.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

Agent Holland, for many years, you dedicated your life to protecting others that they may be safe. It took a small virus to take your life. Our Lord, who sees all and knows all, will reward you abundantly for your courage, dedication and selfless service. My heart breaks for the sorrow that your mother is experiencing over the loss of her son. It is against the law of nature that a parent would outlive her child. May God immerse you and your loved ones in His Divine Mercy. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.

Heavenly Father, you commit to us the swift and solemn trust of life: since we know not what a day may bring forth, but only that the hour for serving you is always present, may we wake to the instant claims of your will upon our lives. In the face of questions without answers, of dreams unfulfilled, of the emptiness that will not go away, we are only compelled to thank you always for lives faithfully lived, for good memories and living hopes. We are reminded as we pray for family and friends who are touched with the feeling of sorrow, that we pray to one who does not let go unnoticed even the falling of a sparrow to earth. We pray to one who weeps for his world, and therefore we come trusting that in life or death, we may find rest and comfort in him. In Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen

My heart sank when I learned of Greg's untimely passing. I still remember his goofy laugh and our roadtrip from Pine Bluff to Fort Benning.

Greg and I met and became instant friends during Basic Training. We were on the same squad in 4th Platoon, A-1/50th Infantry.

After Basic, we both went to 2/18th Infantry for our regular duty stations. He was in Echo Company and I in Charlie. The last time I talked to him was about one week before I separated from service.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, Blood and Blue.

Til we meet again War Dawg!
