Reflections for Police Officer Brent Nelson Hall

Rest easys my son. My heart is shattered knowing that I will never see you again in person. I wonder who will take care of me as I grow older like you promised that you would do. I miss those great big bear hugs that you used to give me. I miss your touch, your skin, your smell. I miss every inch of you. Life was NOT supposed to be this way! I remember the day you were born likd it was yesterday. OH! What a joyouss day that it was! 26 yearss was not enough to bask in your love and to love you more than the world!! I miss you son/baby!! I cannot wait until the day that we are reunited

I am so sorry to learn of the grievous loss of Officer Brent Hall when he was killed in the line of duty. To the Hall family, fellow officers, and all who call Brent beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I hope that you continue to receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Hall gave to his community and the residents of North Carolina and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 3, 2021

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

Officer Hall, our Lord took you back to Himself as your life had only begun for reasons known to Him alone. He will reward you abundantly. My heart goes out to your parents over the loss of their son. It is against the law of nature that parents outlive their children. May God immerse you and your loved ones in His Divine Mercy. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln

Condolences to his family, friends and co-workers. So sorry for your loss.

We knew, when we strapped
On our belts, we might not
Come home after our shift;
Each day could have been our last.
We are the role-models
And must pass on the eternal torch
Of self-sacrifice to our next generation.
We have quieted the child with tears;
We've sat with those those whose spirits
Needed a lift; we've cried with those who've
Suffered loss so they did not
Have to alone bear their heavy cross.
Love is an amazing gift.

We've been called by every name
Known to man;
Talked down those who've sought to maim
Whenever and whomever they can.
We've witnessed atrocities,
Vengeful hearts,
Casting lots, and devising evil plots.

Yes, we lay down our lives everyday
To protect and serve.
We are the hero's ordained by God
Here on earth.
Say a little prayer for us,
And tell us you love us before
We walk out that door.

I am a retired police officer. I am eighty years of age and now reside in Troy, Ohio. I graduated, in North Carolina, February 19, 1984-1994
