Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Lieutenant Michael Anthony Boutte, Sr.

I worked with Mike at Federal Way Police Department. He was amazing to work with and anyone who had worked with him would probably agree with me. He is kind, fair and just. The world lost a great officer but heaven gain an angel. Thank you for you service and I am honored to have worked with you. My condolences to the family and Hancock County Sheriff Department.

Former Officer with Akron PD, Federal Way PD and DeMoines PD

Mike Boutte was stationed at RAF Greenham Common, UK, as was I, back in 1986. He was a stand-up guy, and stood out among his peers. I was a Defense Force Commander in the Missile Security Squadron, guarding the Ground-Launched Cruise Missiles, and he was a Law Enforcement troop--we ended up working together to keep the "peace" demonstrators from adversely affecting our mission. I am sad that he survived all he had only to meet such a capricious fate....and sure that the Big Guardroom will welcome him warmly. My condolences to his family.

My heart goes out to all the civil servants who risk their lives every day to get in harms way to save another. My prayers are with them and their families and I pray that God will receive the glory through this terrible tragedy of events. I also wish that you would put the circumstances here so we would know what happened to these people. At one time it would show how they were killed and what happened to the perpetrator

"Somebody killed a policeman today,
And a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died."
