Reflections for Police Officer Brian David Sicknick

You are a true hero. You responded to the Capitol that horrifying day and you did your best. You sacrificed your life to us to defend our democracy and leaders. Rest in peace, your job here is done.

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I am not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you will miss me too;

But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
It almost seemed impossible
That I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
Would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,

He said, "This is eternity,
And all I have promised you.
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past.

You have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true.
Though there were times you did some things.
You knew you shouldn't do.

But you have been forgiven
And now at last you're free.
So won't you come and take my hand
And share my life with me?"

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

It doesn't matter what your political views are, those responsible for this are a disgrace and simply animals. Brother, may you rest in peace and those responsible be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and never see freedom again.

Officer Sicknick, thank you for your service. May God Bless you and all who knew and loved you best. My thanks to the US Capitol Police and all who worked so hard that day to combat treason.

He lived and died as a hero. Such a tragedy that a dedicated public servant was murdered by seditionists bearing a false flag of patriotism. I hope he did not die in vain, and we can carry on with the lessons learned from his passing.

I hope the American public can see in him that there are countless officers devoted to the principles of this republic, willing to uphold our democratic values regardless of our personal feelings, beliefs or bias. We do our duty, protect civil rights and, if necessary, lay down our lives in order to keep the peace and preserve the tenets upon which this nation was founded.

I hope his family gets the justice they deserve. Please know that we will never forget his sacrifice.

All give some, but only some give all. Ofc. Sicknick upheld the core tenants of our profession, and sacrificed everything in the face of wanton chaos. His sacrifice represents the unwavering commitment to the rule of law that defines the duty and oath of American law enforcement. He shall not be forgotten.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Brian was killed in the line of duty.

To the Sicknick family, fellow officers, and all who call Brian beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I know that that you will receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Sicknick gave to his community and the citizens of our country and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 7, 2021. I hope your family knows our nation mourns your needless death.

To all those members of the capital police stay strong keep your heads up. Some of you who have done what you could to stay alive and keep peace will be questioned. Allow the process to occur and you will be vindicated. You were understaffed and under supported and my heart goes out to each and everyone of you to include the officer who lost his life in this horrible moment of American history. My thoughts and prayers go to that officers family and friends. You all work in an area and in an environment that I would not so I commend each and everyone of you for the bravery you face each and every day. Please know you have a lot of support nationwide. Thank you for what you do every day
