Brian you held the Thin Blue Line against anarchy and evil when your country and the brothers at your side needed you most. You are the Hero that each of us sworn to the badge strive to be. I am deeply grieved at your passing. Though I didn’t know you in this life, I know what you were by your actions. I hope to meet you in heaven. On that day we will join in praise to God.

May the peace of God which transcends all understanding guard the hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Phillipians 4:7) for all of us who remain in this fallen world.

I did not know Officer Sicknick, but I can offer no higher praise of him than this: that he gave the last full measure of devotion that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. We must, as Lincoln urged, continue this noble and unfinished work. May we prove ourselves worthy of Officer Sicknick's sacrifice.

Det. J. M. Wood

Our Nation mourns your sacrifice. You honored your oath to the end, and you left an example for us all. May God bless you and your family.

United States Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick

Lord, I ask for courage;
Courage to face and conquer my own fears...
Courage to take me where others will not go.
I ask for strength;
Strength of body to protect others...
Strength of spirit to lead others.
I ask dedication;
Dedication to my job to do it well...
Dedication to my community to keep it safe.
Give me, Lord, concern;
For all those who trust me...
And compassion for those who need me
And, please, Lord, through it all; be at my side.

I submit my deepest condolences to the Sicknick family.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln
