Reflections for Officer Brian David Sicknick

The Thin Blue Line is tattooed on the heart of every officer's family member.
It is real. It is powerful. It is a solemn community. It brings us pride. It brings us sorrow.
RIP Officer Sicknick. I pray peace for your family.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Brian was killed in the line of duty.

To the Sicknick family, fellow officers, and all who call Brian beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I know that that you will receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Sicknick gave to his community and the citizens of our country and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 7, 2021. I hope your family knows our nation mourns your needless death.

To all those members of the capital police stay strong keep your heads up. Some of you who have done what you could to stay alive and keep peace will be questioned. Allow the process to occur and you will be vindicated. You were understaffed and under supported and my heart goes out to each and everyone of you to include the officer who lost his life in this horrible moment of American history. My thoughts and prayers go to that officers family and friends. You all work in an area and in an environment that I would not so I commend each and everyone of you for the bravery you face each and every day. Please know you have a lot of support nationwide. Thank you for what you do every day

Officer Sicknick died in a place that should demand peace and sanctity. He laid his life so that people intent on stopping democracy would not pass any further. Politics should not result in blood in AMerica. That is our advantage over other more repressive countries. Officer SIcknick did his job even when others nearby refused to. I am very sad to his family, friends, and the country as a whole.

Then out spake brave Horatius,
The Captain of the Gate:
"To every man upon this earth
Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his Gods."

To Officer Sicknick's family, friends, & colleagues:

I grieve with you. The horrible pictures & videos from television are shocking & no doubt even more horrible for those of you close to Brian.
Brian's service to our Country will not be forgotten. I know those words can seem hollow - you would rather have Brian with you. Thank you for his service.
Don't let evil win.
