Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Juan Menchaca

It sure doesn’t seem like it’s been almost 4 years since he went to be with God. He worked doing outside patrols from the jails, and I frequently saw him in his patrol SUV pulling over somebody in the Downtown area whenever I would leave to go home. I used to joke with him about it, and we would have good long conversations at times. He was a good man and certainly a dedicated deputy. The only regret is that I didn’t get to know him more and better, but I’m glad we met and that I got to know him a little bit.

Vaya con Dios, JM!

Almighty and eternal God, we ask You to be with the family of Deputy Sheriff Juan Menchaca of the Harris County TX Sheriff's Office. Even as Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, was moved to weep over the death of his friend Lazarus, so we know You are touched by the tears of those who mourn the loss of Deputy Sheriff Juan Menchaca. In Your divine providence, fill the aching void in our hearts with Your comforting presence and grant peace through the assurance of Your love and care. In the mighty and holy name of Your beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

During His three (3) year ministry, the Lord Jesus Christ proclaimed, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]
