Reflections for Corporal Daniel Ray Abramovitz

I spoke to Officer Abramovitz some years ago about something that had happened to a loved one. He was patient, understanding, and kind at a time that was very frightening and overwhelming. He helped me, and he helped my family.
I thanked him then, but I always wanted to find him after everything had settled to thank him again. I found this page instead. So I am writing to say "thank you", and to add my small piece to the record of his kindness and integrity.
He was a good man, and I will forever be grateful to him.

Even still today your loss echoes through the hallways and the County. Your smile and laughter is missed greatly. Your knowledge on everything from child crimes to how to build the perfect chicken coop is missed. It still feels like yesterday you were here. I hope you’re doing exactly everything you wanted to do up there. There isn’t a day you’re not missed.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

My prayers go out to Dan’s family. Carol I’m sure you already know how much Dan was loved and respected by everyone in Leavenworth County. I will always remember Dan for his compassion and kindness. Dan was one of the first Deputies I got to know when I was assigned to patrol in the county. I will always remember Dan for being positive and teaching me to always look for the good no matter how bad the call was. Dan was a great man and will always be remembered as that. I feel blessed to of had the opportunity to get to know him.
