Reflections for Captain Stanley Curtis Elrod

Stan, thank you for all that you taught me. Thank you for having my 6 and know that we now have your 6 covered.
Thank you for your faithful service to this department and the date of Georgia.
Most importantly, thank you for your love of family and giving terminally ill or life-threatening illness children the chance of a lifetime hunting or fishing trip through "The Outdoor Dream Foundation."
Your heart was bigger than any man I knew and your DREAM lives on. Those of us that know you, miss you brother.

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

I had the honor of having Captain Elrod work with us at the City Of Franklin Springs Police Dept. Part time several years until he was promoted to Captain With DNR. There was no more deserving officer with DNR to get this promotion. He was always very professional in all his interactions with the public. This great man, officer, friend, husband and father will be so dearly missed. There will forever be a void in the lives of all that knew him. Rest in peace my friend !

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln
