Reflections for Police Officer Christopher Bieker May

Happy Birthday Chris. I played 'Your song' today! No; I haven't forgotten about you. I can't believe you would be 51 years old. A glorious day for your parents; while such a horror befell the country. You were as great a man. Salute!

Hi Chris.this goes back a long ways, to bishop Noll high School, when we "hungout." I remember when your dad Bill(my old insurance man) would take us to CL to water ski. What fun we had, you , Rob, your Dad and me and my girlfriends, Mary, and Donna. I've had not seen you since those high school days and unforunately heard of your untimely death in 1991. I was shocked! I'll always remember you as a Kind hearted, jovial and fun loving teen ager. God Bless you!

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 22nd anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for the solace of all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their devotion to you through their reflections.

I will never forget those nights when you came into the gas station saying "Gather 'round, kids! Uncle Chris has a story to tell!" I can hear it in my head like it was yesterday...

Bless you, Chris.

Dear Chris,

I found this website because of another officer shooting here in my town of College Station, TX this past week. Constable Brian Bachman was gunned down similar to you - he left behind a family - his youngest goes to school with my son.

I have often thought about you even though we didn't know each other very well - we lived in the same apartment complex and attended a few events together - The Yes concert. I was forever impacted in my heart about the sacrifice you made to protect the citizens of Atlanta and how incredibly brave you were.

God Bless you Chris - until we meet again.

Your friend,

Chris,
Coming up the 20th anniversary of your last watch. I remember that day as if it was yesterday, driving down Roswell Rd, seeing all the police cars zooming by and thinking…”can’t wait to get back to the apartment and see Chris and find out what had happened”. Finding out later that night that it was you we lost, was the worst news. I miss you my friend. I miss hanging out at the Pie on Friday nights, while you worked the door, and ‘Crusher’ showing up when someone got a little too rowdy. I especially miss meeting you Sunday mornings at Three Dollar for brunch. Didn’t have to call you, I just arrived around 11:30 and you’d either be there or show up a few minutes later. I’m sorry Barbara is not here with us anymore, but I’m glad she’s with you; give her a hug for me. Think about you often and hear from Bill every once and a while. See Putt during the school year, and finally caught up with John and some of the other boys from back in the day. Keep watching over us. G-d bless you.

Hey Chris, I'm sure you saw me at the DC Memorial this year. It's coming up to your 20th and I appreciate you watching over me the past 14 years. It was an emmotional weekend but it makes me appreciate all of us who are Bold as Lions.
I raised several up to you and those who fell in 2010 at Kelly's.
I will never forget. It wasn't how you died but how you lived that I miss the most.
God Bless. Cousin Nick.

Hey Chris,
Sorry for not visiting you sooner, my friend. I didn't realize that we could leave thoughts and reflections through the county police department web-site. The day you left us caused a great void for me. For about 5 days afterward I was unsure if I could continue "on the job" as that call should have been mine, but as usual we all answered calls that day on adjoining beats and as a result, you paid the "ultimate price" for us all. And justice was served when SWAT intervened and shot the perpetrator. But what kept me from leaving policing all together was the fond memories of our nights working side-by-side in the Springs on Evening Watch, and the "unwinding sessions" we spent at your place and the Pie. Remember the "blue hawaiian" drinks we made and sang about?

Chris, it was these memories and others that gave me the courage to keep me working to "protect and serve" and for that I thank you from my heart. I retired in 2005 and in 2008 went back "on the job" with yet another agency. I wish I could meet with you again and relive some of the good times and create others. But I will wait patiently until my "final roll-call" and we will sit down at that time and raise a beer or two to those times and more. I hope I made you smile and I will never forget you, sir.
