Reflections for Police Officer Jason Michael Knox

Had the privilege to meet you in D.C. during police week with your restored historic Houston Police car. You're photo from that encounter was featured on Police1.com. Enjoyed the brief visit we had. In this business we never know when that last conversation will be....

My husband had the privilege of sitting with your family after your accident. When he returned home, he told me what a wonderful family you had. I just remember thinking that I couldn't imagine what your family must be feeling and going through. Well unfortunately I do now and its horrific and heartbreaking. Thank you for your service and for being such a wonderful person. My prayers are with your family.

May God hold you in the palm of his hand

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

On behalf of the BSA Troop 737, my thoughts and prayers go to the family and friends of HPD Tactical Flight Officer Knox and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Rest In Peace fallen brother, watch over us.
I am the police, and I'm here to arrest you. You've broken the law, I did not write the law, I may even disagree with the law, but I'm here to enforce it. No matter how you plead, cajole, beg, and attempt to stir up my sympathies, nothing will stop me from putting you in a steel cage with grey bars. If you run away I will chase you. If you fight me I will fight back. If you shoot me I will shoot back. By law, I am unable to walk away. I am the consequence, I am the unpaid bill, I am the fate with a badge and gun, Behind the badge is a heart like yours, I bleed, I think, I love, and yes I can be killed. Although I'm only but one man, I have thousands of brothers and sisters who are there for me. They will lay down their lives for me and I then, we stand watch together. The thin-blue-line, keeping the prey from the predators, the good from the bad, we are the police- Jake Gyllenhaal, End Of Watch

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Jason was one of the most incredible people I've ever known. He was an amazing friend, who loved people intensely. He made people feel valued and respected, and included. He even made you love yourself more. The world is a darker place without him.
