I knew Terry from the time I started the Law Enforcement program at Black Hawk College. He was so kind to a kid just starting out and I was blessed to get to work cases with him later on. He was a good man, an incredibly proud and good officer and an example of what we should all aspire to. He gave his life in service to the profession he loved. Go easy Chief, we'll keep the watch from here.

RIP Chief Engle! Thank you for your service.
My late husband Sgt. Rodney Heilig (DeWitt, IA) left a rolling memorial 1987 Crown Victoria like he drove back in the day as a Rolling Memorial to Fallen Police, Firefighters & EMS. Your name will be added to the car. I had hoped I would not have to add anymore names.
My deepest sympathies to Chief Engle’s family & fellow officers.

Dear Engle Family,

Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones. Everyone starts their shift hoping and praying they get to go home ( again) tonight, no matter what is thrown at you.
The Lord will keep him safe in the palm of his hand, until that day that day comes when you are rejoined with him. Until then, you will always miss his physical presence, voice and all the love and fun you shared. It is our hope that we will be reunited with our loved ones and he lives on through each one of you. Until that day, remember all the god timed and hold your head high when someone asks what he did for his calling, because that is exactly what it was for so many of us.
My wife and I were both in the same Academy Class over 35 yrs ago and I prayed that after each 12 hr shift, she would text me to let me know she was ok during the L. A. riots.
Hang in there and take it one day at a time and remember he died doing what he loved.
Our deepest sympathy and prayers to everyone he knew, because it is family and our Wall keeps getting bigger and bigger.
God Bless you and By His Grace, you will get through this, but never get over it. I am talking from my own personal experience. God Bless
