Reflections for Commander Greg Scott Carnicle

I saw a memorial decal on the back of an SUV at a high school track meet in McLouth, KS today. Looking up Commander Carnicle, I am not surprised to find that he was a man of great character and devotion to his job and his family. The world needs more individuals such as this. May his family be comforted and may he rest in peace.

Commander Carnicle was unnecessarily taken away.

31 years is a long time, but Greg had a lot of living left to do.

I met Greg at the FBI National Academy in 2007 - Session 229. Greg was the epitome of what a policeman should be, and you didn't have to spend too much time with him to figure out that he loved his family, and he loved being a Phoenix Police Officer. I wasn't surprised to learn that he had requested to be the nightshift watch commander. With his time in grade he could have had any number of assignments, but Greg wanted to be on the street with his officers because that's exactly where police work is done. Even though my time with him was short, he made an impression on me for sure. My heartfelt condolences to his wife, family, co-workers and friends. I'm sorry for your terrible loss, Greg was a tremendous man and he will not be forgotten.

God Bless Greg Carnicle, his wife and four children and all other family and friends. As they are and will be hurting for quite some time.

In these horrible days of violence and terror against innocent people and police officers performing their duties.

A tragedy such as this, after 31 years of service, 56 years of age, and two months to retire, was any of this worth the cost.

God Bless the Peace Keepers!

There are too many fallen officers. I just wanted all of you to know that your protection and help to every civilian is so greatly appreciated. You are all heroes!

Laying down their lives like angels in disguise
They're weak but always willing
They dare to do the hard things
And in the dark and desperate places no one else goes
You'll find the heroes
You'll find the heroes
(lyrics by Casting Crowns)
Merciful Father in heaven, surround every family member of every fallen officer with a hedge of protection and open the heavens and pour out blessings in their loved ones lives. Amen

Righteous Father in heaven in Jesus name, I ask You to place a hedge of protection around every officer and their family members. Protect them from all injury, accident, harm, violence, sickness, disease and every evil spirit. Father in heaven open up the heavens and pour out blessings into these officers lives and their family members lives, so many blessings they won't' have room to contain them all. Amen

IN MY HEART
I thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday
And days before that too

I think of you in silence
I often speak your name
Now all I have is memories
And a picture in a frame

Your memory is my keepsake
With which I'll never part
God has you in His keeping
I have you in my heart

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.
