I am sad to learn of the passing of a brother and hero in Police Officer Kenneth Reid Lester. I know our Heavenly Father has welcomed him home into his loving arms where he will now patrol the Golden Streets of Heaven. May the Lord deliver blessings, comfort and peace to his family, friends and all members of the Richmond Police Department, Indiana.

God of Justice, You are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our Brother-in-Blue, Police Officer Kenneth R. Lester, of the Richmond, Indiana Police Department, was taken from us on Monday, February 10, 2020. Police Officer Kenneth Lester succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile crash on February 17th, 1995, while responding to an alarm call. He was responding to the call with his lights activated but no siren. As he approached the intersection of South 8th Street and South H Street a tractor-trailer that was driving in the left lane moved to the right lane. As Officer Lester overtook the tractor-trailer, it suddenly attempted to make a left turn in front of him. His patrol car became stuck underneath the trailer, causing him to suffer debilitating head and internal injuries. Officer Lester required around-the-clock care for the next 25 years. He passed on away from complications of the original injuries on February 10th, 2020. Come swiftly to his aid, have mercy on him, and comfort his family, friends, and colleagues by the power and protection of the Cross. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, the Christ, Amen.

“The greatest love you can show is to give your life for your friends.” [John 15:13 GW]

“Blessed are those who mourn. They will be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4 GW]

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Richmond Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!
