God of Justice, You are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our Sister-in-Blue, Lieutenant Shirley Lanning, of the Canadian County, Oklahoma Sheriff’s Office, was taken from us suddenly and violently on Friday, February 14, 2020. She was killed in an automobile crash on the Northwest Expressway just west of the John Kilpatrick Turnpike when her patrol car was struck head-on by another vehicle. Come swiftly to her aid, have mercy on her, and comfort her family, friends, colleagues by the power and protection of the Cross. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, the Christ, Amen.

Jesus Christ taught:

“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” [John 15:13 NLT]

“God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4 NLT]

A police officer should be remembered not by how she died, but how she lived! A great woman has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Canadian County Sheriff's Office. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Sister!
