Heavenly Father, You are always faithful and quick to show mercy. On Thursday, January 23, 2020, Police Officer Katie Thyne died after being dragged by a vehicle while conducting an investigation. Police Officer Thyne and her partner were investigating reports of drug activity when they approached a car along the 1400 block of 16th Street in Newport News. During the investigation, the driver sped off, dragging Police Officer Katie Thyne for a block. The vehicle struck a tree, and Officer Thyne was pinned between the tree and the vehicle door. Come swiftly to her aid, have mercy on her, and comfort her family, friends, and colleagues by the power and protection of the Cross. We ask this through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; for He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can go to the Father except by way of the Son. Amen.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 CSB]

“And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 CSB]

“No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 CSB]

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4 CSB]
